Black Ghost Knife fish bit up my beta!!!

Is there anything you can do for a Beta when it's fins have been bit up? I separated him until I remove the fish (Black Ghost Knife FIsh) that did it. I was really upset because I didn't research the fish before I bought it and the guy at the fish store made it seem as if they were harmless. My beta is hardly swimming, not eating, and sometimes will lay on its side. What can I do?!
