Cool Mudskippers

Hmmmm.... this topic looks dead, but anyways...

Anyone here keeps mud skippers or has tried to? Am thinking of starting a brackish paludarium tank with mudskippers in it. Have been doing quite a lot of reading on the Internet of other people around the world who have done so... Apparently, mudskippers are one of the very few fishes you can feed by hand. Like after a while, you can put the food on yer palm, and they will actually jump onto your palm to get the food. So cute...

Anyone ever tried? Tell me yer experiences...

Default Mudskippers

Would you know where I could purchase Mudskippers? During my childhood days, I tried catching them at mudflats and mangrove swamps, but they are extremely quick and would disappear underneath the mud even before I could move in.

Actually i got few, but keep them in fresh water. Very small, compare to those by the seaside.

Yes, mudskippers are not commercially available, at least when it comes to live ones. flashout, are you willing to sell your mudskippers?

Before Penang Bridge was built in 1985, I used to frequent the seaside along Gelugor watching the antics of the mudskippers along the mud banks. I had seen large males threatening one another, with open gills and their dorsal fins sticking up. I attempted to scoop them up with my net, but only managed to retrieve dead leaves and mud.

Looneyfish, the one i have, i put them in another tanks. Well, I catch them in blackish river where the river connect to the sea. For sure some die, yet some manage to life. Totally inside the water, small bout inch plus.

Yes, for sure you will not get it in the local lfs.

If not mistaken, if you go upstream, there its a fresh water mud skipper.
