Default Gobioides broussonetti

Saw a lfs keeping 4 of them mixed together with 6 frontosa and some other dragon fish. I first saw this fish...i m falling in love with it. They look damn fierce. But actually they are very peaceful fish.

Cool Violet gody

I have only just aquired mine through a friend who did not take very good care of it, so I do not know much about them. There also does not seem to be a whole lot of consistant info on the web about them. I have noticed that they do not like light much. I have him in a 55 gal for now with a dojo loach, a pleco, some kind of albine catfish and a khuli loach. I know an incompatable bunch, but like I said I just aquired through a friend of mine. When I first aquired this tank the ammonia was out of control. It is getting better now and he is looking much more bright. I am waiting until the tank completes it's cycle and I can move the other freshwater fish before I add salt. I have seen some gorgious pics of these in true brackish water and they are a voilet color with gold inlays. They are quite interesting. The tank originally had gravel which I feel is not a good idea. I did manage to find out where thiese fish come from, which is estuaries in asia covered with mangroves and muddy bottoms. I have read that they sift the sand to pick up food, which he has done since I put sand in there. Previous to this my friend said he ate shrimp pellets but "had trouble finding them, and would suck up gravel and spit out until he got the pellet." This fish loves the sand!!!!! Currently the tank has a UGF on half of the tank so it's gravel on half and sand on the other, and he will not leave the sand portion. I got him what looks to be a hollowed out mangrove root and pressed it into the 1" sand bed I have in there up to the bottom. He has dug himself a cave under the decor and loves it. I have read on some sites that they bother small fish but on others it states what seems to be true and that is that they have a large mouth, but a small throat. He has not even attempted to bother the other fish in the tank despite his teeth.
