Default My new Candycane Goby is not happy

Hey there, I just took over a 30 gallon freshwater tank about 5 weeks ago, so I'm kind of new at the fish dynamics and tank chemistry. My tank is doing good (nitrites a little high but I'm using NitraZorb) except for my Candycane Goby. He won't eat and just swims around up and down the glass. I've tried feeding him brine shrimp, flakes, granules. The other fish are not agressive. He had a friend but he died very recently of Pop Eye (I think) even after medication. I can't find any information on gobies, much less Candycanes, and the pet stores give me advice, but to no avail. Could he be lonely? Need a bottom of sand instead of gravel? Is it a brackish fish? I have him in fresh water (like the pet store did). Should I try bloodworms? What should I do, he's withering away! Thanks for any advice.
Holly

Cool candycane goby

well first i would try to get him another friend he might just need a few of his own species, and i might try live food instead, and you could go get some salt from your lfs (local fish store) and get some salt for sick fih it helps them get used to their new home and helps with any sicknesses the might have. also it is safe with all yor fish.

p.s. what size tank and fish do you have bsides the goby?

Default tank aquariums

Some goby species live in symbiosis with burrowing shrimps and needs to traverse areas of semi dry land. So keeping the dry sand instead of gravel would be better place for gobies to live and also use a set of gobies with its own varieties to support a companion. Also look out for low watt bulbs for aqua tanks. You can find more helpful resource links from here:
