Default How to prevent dwarf puffers nipping?

ANyone knows how to prevent my dwarf puffer from nipping the tails of my neon tetra?
I only have one dwarf puffer and i bought him to help eradicate a snail outbreak in my tank. At first he didn't attacked other fishes, i guess now that since there are hardly anymore snails left, he changes his focus to other fishes

p.s: i know dwarf puffers are fresh water puffers, but i just wasn't sure where to post this question

1st solution, remove the puffer from the tank
2nd, setup a snail tank. Feed urs puffer with snail.

Someone gave me a dwarf puffer and i kept it in my quarantine tank which had a dozen ghost shrimps. The puffer would go close and look curiously at the shrimps which was very cute. But unfortunately, 1 shrimp pinched it and another shrimp joined in attacking the puffer. The puffer died a few hours later.
True story. Im not making it up!

Couldn't you rescue your poor puffer during the attacks?

Yeah i took him out and kept him in a breeding chamber but he kept toppling over on his side. The shrimps are very aggresive. I had alot of snails in my tank but they have managed to eat all of them.
