Hi everyone I am new to this forum and was wondering if anyone could help me with a breeding problem I seen to have.
I have 1 male blue oranda, 1 male claico moore, 1 male red cap oranda, 1 male goldfish of the wild strail and 1 female red cap of the wild strain (I'm not sure what the the proper breed for the last 2 is)
So far they have spawnde twice. The first spawn hatched after 3 days at a temp of 20C. Of the few that hatched I noticed many were deformed and all died within 2 days.
The second spawn hatched 4 days ago I did not notice any deformities however they were all very small only 5mm in length, all have now died.

Because of the small number of fry in this spawn I placed the fry in 2 separate containers. One I left to float in the hatching tank, the temp was 17C (this was the temp when the parents spawned) the others I floated in the parents tank, temp 20C. I changed the water in both containers twice daily using the water in the tankn they were floating in to refill the containers. I have used this method with other fry and been successful in raising them.
I am at a lose as to why the fry haye been dying if anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciatad
One other thing that has crossed my mind is would cross breeding between the two strains cause a problem?
Smoove.
