Sometimes they change color according to mood.

my hypostomus/cochliodon changes from spots to darker patches.
My common do that too...shud not be something serious...but if after a water change and suddenly u see ur plecos turning bright coloration like u've never seen before, then u better be ready to evacuate them...water instability...

Hmmm...ok good food clean water and so on...get the idea...

another thing to consider is the breed. Sometimes in the farm(if urs is a common common pleco. There are a few variants available from liposarcus to Glyptopericthys ???) where they mass produce this fishes, they do not care about quality, so they just dump them together and hope something happens. So weak genes are passed down from one generation to another so tats why u encounter...poor quality individuals. There is a stock claimed to be anisitsi in Xian Leng Shah Alam going for 30bux. U can try it out and see since its imported...I'm not certain on the import part.

My plecos occasionally show bright nice colors...especially feeding time...even when water is dirty...will be splitting the population up as my 4ft can't handle the load

Plecowhacko has gone all whacko in collecting Plecos........
BTW, Prvn..... I doubt u will find any unique plecs going for below RM20...
maybe the common bristlenose (Ancistrus sp.) will interest you which costs a tad more than those bandaraya fish.......

Yup...most plecos do not go lower than 40 except for mass produced or very common sp. Well actually if u are lucky u can bump into a few lfs tat give wrong names and price. I got my L204...for rm 55 each...LOL tats dirt cheap

Mostly price are high because its hard to breed plecos in general...except for the cheap ones. SOme even will have to be caught from the wild hence the high pricing for them. COme to think of it, RM100++ for a wild fish is standard regardless to wat it is or where they are from.

Hey joe...u sell me the fish one and u say i go whacko ?
U spreading the sickness then u say i sick ...apalar
