Erm...i think the water dept here not so serious because those saying here not so kaya to employ Loyar to sue them if someone dies...Damansara area got lotsa filthy rich people so anyone die, the water dept will be in deep sh1t !

Plus I'm running out of space to keep aged water...so have to use tap water straight from tap...

Smile New plec owner

Hi,

I have an new 8.2 gallon tank, currently I've got two speckled mollies, two gourgeous little orange African fish - not sure what they are called but they are not much bigger than neon tetras, the male (Mork) has a really fat face, his body is orange with red spots and his fins have a single red line paralleled by a yellow line, the female (Mindy) is just pale orange. Anyway I also got the sweetest little Bulldog plec,Squirtle, I'd got driftwood for him - which I soaked before putting in the tank - anyway he doesn't seem to eat much. I bought algae wafers but he doesn't go near them. George and Mildred the Speckled Mollies love them though - so at least they are not going to waste! I've tried putting cucumber in but although he sits next to it he's not eating it. I think he is nocturnal - he certainly moves about more when the light goes off...will there be enough stuff for him to eat in the tank - algae etc? I've got live plants in the tank...

Would really appreciate any advice!

Stigley

Hi Stigley,

Welcome to the forum, first and foremost, most of us here are based in the Far East, Malaysia so please mind our gibberish/accent/slangs. A pic of your setup would really be nice. I'd really like to know what African fish you have there with you... and from your description I can't really tell. If they are African Cichlids, I'd would say they aren't compatible with your Mollies.

As far as your plec goes... don't worry about him not getting food. They are nocturnal alright and only forage for food when the lights goes off. There will be sufficient debris of leftover food for him to pickup.
