Default Need your opinion and help on my future Bichir fish!!!

Okay guys im new i REALLY want to own a bichir fish, saw them at the fish store yesterday and i was hook'd. I have a fairly big tank Probly 2 feet Up and about 4 feet wide. I have 4 other fishes in there, I think theyre called chinese coys or jap coys not sure, and 2 oscar fishes.

Any ideas on how to raise these fishes or if i am able to keep one?

Im also planning on selling the oscars. I dont really like them.

they're predators and fairly easy to keep. never put small fish in there that can't swim fast enough unless they are feeder fish. my friend had two and he put in 50 neon. kow tim in one night.

just keep the tank covered as they like to jump.

First of all...this is not a catfish so that means this post has been misplaced

Yar...bichirs are predatorial fishes...i think one of the species come from Tanganyika... but not sure on that. There are several versions though. From cheap ones to more costly ones tat cost above 100 each...

They are not totally bottom feeders too u know...u saw the documentary about L.Tanganyika. Being a bottom feeder at that depth, i dun think there is much thing to eat...
The bichirs we see are downright lazy thats why they are down on the floor.

Well there are sand dwelling cichlids but people dun call them bottom feeders. Technically this thread is for those fish that stay at the bottom most of the time. Like catfishes and loaches that stay most of the time at the lower level. they feed there and live there MOST OF THE TIME.
