depends on yout tank size and u. meaning how hard are u going to work for it .....a fish dont just grow by itself. normal feeding ...with plenty of good food...i say 10months to a year

How about African Chiclids. Do you know what size they usually grow to? Thanks for all the help, by the way.

I know it was a while before but it very well could of been the stores fault that the fish died. Next time you go to by fish if you are worried ask the fish person to test the water in their tanks while your right their. Just tell them you've gotten sick fish from stores before and It would make you feel better about buying fish from their store. If their tanks are okay It shouldn't be a problem.
