thats rite ...u can have all those fishes for free...if u are living around the Klang Valley. but of course u need to work abit ...with your rod and line. the place is batu cantoment water confinement. if u are travelling towards selayang from jalan kuching , u could spot this lake on your right. it is oppsite the Makro superstore, and next to the batu cantoment army camp. of course u could make your way from jalan ipoh ...make a right hand turn at traffic juntion near the bird shop. this is a huge lake ...once there try to look for places with sandy banks...cichlids seldom hand around the weeds...if they know whats good for them...the weeds are Giant Snakehead territory. use light tackle with 5 to 8 lbs lines. these fishes arent too big..just about 6 to 7 inches max...the papa fishes are right in the middle and u need a boat for that. use size 10 hooks since they have small mouths. tips ....before u start to fish ....invest a bit on chicken feed(hong) and toss them around the spot u want to fish ...wait for a while and the synspilus will come. they take white worm(use for feeding birds) while the midas love prawns, the jaguars will take anything. remember ...if u caught any cichlids that u dont quite like ...DONT release them....just kill it or take it home for your cats or dogs.if u have a fly outfit u might want to try for the big jaguars near the water outlets ...size 8 poppers or deerhair minnows are the best flies to use ...just cast on top the shallow weeds, and let your flies pop abit and wait for the strikes. u wont be disapointed. this lake has no trees...good for flyers with back cast problem

Belize wildcaught syns

thanks bro nic ....for helping me post those photos. the one caught in batu cantoment is a female and this photo was taken about a year back a few days after its capture. i kept this fish since i like its gray/blue hue belly. normally synspilus will have light blue, white or yellowish belly. this fish is about 8.5 inches when caught. the other photo is a wild caught belize, which i got last week from my fish farm friends in bangkok. note ...the green face and eyes. syn usually have yellow,plae blue or white eyes.the day the shipment arrived, they were in a very bad condition, almost black, with brusies and wounds all over their body. four out nine die on arrival, so my friend got me to keep this fish just incase the rest dont survive. this is male at 7inch. this 2 photos were taken without aquarium lights ...to show the natural colours. bro nic...your syn has a very nice red.such red are hard to come by...so what did u feed it?

What was fed? Hikari Whaetgerm pellets, Hikari Spirulina pellets, the occasional feeder fish and occasional market prawns.
