go to 88, ask the people there, which tank is the one with sphagnum moss. a true eye opener for u..my friend....and just like i said....depends on whos doing the planting.
maybe u are reffering to the longkang moss...hehehe. my back yard is filled with that!
hahaha...i m doubt 88 fella know anything about the mosses or not.
The mosses you got named Plagiomnium and Pinnatella sp or Thuidium sp which growing emersed in misture n humidity area. Which is not really can name it as sphagnum moss.

not forcing u to believe... time will tell. And i tried it years ago...btw, tanks in 88 cheras n subang...nvr make my eyes open.

good luck on trying. i will post to give away the mosses after this ADA contest. time to trim....

Plagiomnium, pinnatella, thuidium...so which is it? hope u could make your mind up.
yea...actually im not on talking term with the people in 88,...friends who knew me well, knows the 20 year dispute i had with them. but i tend to leave my personal feeling at the door step when ever i see something good...a good pat on the back ...even if it means complimenting people i dislike.

sure ..they dont know anything about mosses...BUT they seems to be doing some good work out of mosses...which is more than You the moss expert is doing at present.
the tanks are there for all to see...and i only believe in what i see despite what the book says...the fact is they did it, and i sure hate to dispute facts.
i have tried planting this moss many times...u dont have to remind me the end result, they turn brown each time or just fall apart. it didnt worked for me ... but that dont mean it CANNOT be done...and its only wise to ask the people who had suceed instead of holding to pride and the belief if u cant do it , no one else should suceed!!

there is no guarantee i will suceed,..if i follow to instructions given i might have a 60% chance..... but the point is such informations or instructions doesnt comes free...u need to spend money on it and im not talking about a ten buck bribe. so why am i posting this topic step by step??
so we all could learn something new if it works out...if it doesnt ...then its just to bad...but at least we tried.

Fine if the tanks in subang or cheras doesnt open your eyes...but for most of us its a usefull guide, but as for me i never bother to go to Contest or Exibition to see the display there...its a waste of time and money if they charge a ticket. i just couldnt comprehend a planted tank which is setup a week ago or probably over night to be judge in the contest.....as we all know plants need time to grow, so what do we call a tank thats been arrangged neatly with exotic plants and tore apart after a contest?

Finally..why give away the mosses after the contest since u are so convinced they would never grow?? would the garbage bin be a better place for them............

hahaha...no hard feeling brother...we have cross swords before...and its fun to do it again

haha...no hard feeling. but u sound like having harder feeling than me. don't just refering to 88 fellas all the time. check on killies, APC, AQ..etc forum. If they said yr mosses you collect can grow inside water. i buy u dinner!

ai yo..how to make up my mind...since there are few mosses i posted are almost similiar and i dont hv yours to compare. somemore...those wat i said are terrestrial mosses.

There are thousand type of mosses n liverworts. but less than 50 types can grow submersed.

hahaha...i think u misunderstanding. i said giving away my mosses after i shot the picture of competition. the mosses which i kept more than 8 months submersed and was given by few friends from singapore which they grown them submersed as well. i m not giving the emersed mosses lar.

u made yrself sound like u r 88's boss. no hard feeling ya.
