Question *Mystic* Severums - ID?

Hey Everyone!

Juss wondering if you could help me properly ID this Pair of Severums?
They were sold to me as "Red-Bellied Severums" but I can not find the info for that name?
They look like Green Severums when they Spawn, but normally look very Orange and Red in Colour every other time!

This pic is the Original Pic taken by the people I bought them from:

And this pic is mine that I took while they were spawning:

And yes, they are the same fish, I have seen them this colour before,
but they spawn often, so normally a dark colour rather than the Orange/Red colour.

Hope someone can help a lil'?

Thanx in Advance!

They are a beautiful Pair indeed, bought them from a Local.

Yur always welcome to come visit over our place, good to meet wonderful people!

i was hoping there are greens...coz golden are sort of a hybrid...cant never get myself used to hybrids.anyway...the resulting babies would eventually give u some light what they actually are.

yup rainbow and brown trouts....i heard from pals, in NZ u guys do sight fishing, see the fish and cast towards it...hehehe, gotta try this, with a native guide of course.
unlike in malaysia...its blind casting...plenty of guesswork....and most of time u dont get anything.

The golden form is not a xbred but mutation from green form.

Anyways,
IMO,
the fish might contain gold severum gene.if u sucessfull bred them and the offspring contain green and gold....then my teori is correct...good luck .hope can updated us on the result.cheers.

Well, the gold form of Heros efasciatus(no longer Heros severus) is supposed to be the colour mutation of the green. Though because the history of the gold form was not recorded or anything and it was so long ago, some people speculate it may be a hybrid though I do not believe so. The ones in your pic looks like a cross colour between both, so maybe one parent or grandparent or great grandparent was a green and the other a gold. I foresee no problems here.

Yeah... Mybirdshit got it right.... These are not actually Heros Severus.... Apparently the true severums are actually delayed mouthbrooders similiar to some of their geophagus cousins. A mistake made in the trade for ages.

These should be line bred Efasciatus. On the variant...... only the breeder knows.
