Haha ari, you blanket bomb again. hypersushi, all the dry foods you mention would have all the vitamins they could possibly pack into foods, but it can't replace live foods. Even once a week is beneficial to your fish. I haven't have problems with disease since using live/frozen foods. All my fish fat and active. I feed frozen foods as a staple, live foods as a treat and tetrabits/sera vipachips as a supplement. Frozen foods have gotten a lot more accesible and affordable, so no reason not to feed frozen.

Your ram just the regular ram you get at the shops here? Most probably quite weak adi la. Local rams don't last very long. Could be a result of inbreeding, producing genetically inferior fish.

I dunno if 99% HITH is already in our water, but I do believe 99% of the time, we already have pathogens in our water that is enough to kill our fishes, so my philosophy is for my fish to develop immunity to diseases not keep diseases from my fish. So sometimes.. I feed live foods also, I don't worry so much la. They all should come from natural sources.. so if they die from disease from it.. then too bad la, failed the survival test.

I know, ari is ari heheh.

Despite my methods, I haven't had a fish die from disease for a long, long time now. The only fish deaths I get now is from new fish... most for inexplicable reasons. I suspect our local temperature too high for some fish. I put them in a tank with a fan and they seem to do fine after that. Most recent casualties, Clown Killifish(Did not have suitable sized foods), and Spaerichtys Vaillanti(3 pcs, unknown reason, just flipped and died). My black mollies ocassionally get fungal attacks but I don't bother to treat it and they all recover by themselves. The younger platies and mollies seem to enjoy picking at the fungus for a snack. If your fish is in good condition, good food, good water, don't have to worry about disease attacks.

Well, I can't be 100% sure but I am preety sure that there are many other farms that don't have it............. Generalisations like that memang tarak foundation lar... If you say most farms have pathogens that might lead to HITH disease then I may agree with you.. Furthermore, there's hell lotsa debate on how to cure or even wat causes HITH. But in saying 99% of S.E Asia bred Cichlids have HITH is like saying 99% of people in Malaysia have AIDs or to that effect lar...

Thanks for your feedback Soyadude. I think you are right about the rams... I have yet to keep one that lasts over a year. I applied the "dun care" technique and basically, those strong enough to survive are worth me keeping them. My mollies seem to be okay with this rule but not the rams. Having said that, whether I try to help it (with medicines) or let it heal itself, none of my sick rams have successfully recovered.... yet.
