Default Feed what dried food to prevent Hole in the Head?

My ram recently died from hole in the head disease. I was feeding New Life Spectrum, Spirulina Pellets and Tetra Breeder to all my community tank fishes including my rams...As I understand, HitH disease is caused by lack of vitamins in the food... what should I do? I don't think feeding live food is an option (I have a planted tank) but maybe carrots and lettuce might be okay????

Correction:
Hole in the Head is believed to be caused by a combination of flagellated protozoans and bacteria.

Get some off-the-counter medicine. Do the necessary water changes.

huh...still have problem with Hole in Head,...tot this was history.
well...15 to 20 years ago HiH is a number one killer for cichlids until the real truth was known.
it has nothing to do with vitamins...as long as u are not feeding live blood or tubifex worms, u have nothing to worry about.
it has go to do with your water condition...if u have a proper filteration system, HIH will not occurr.....unless u actually bought a fish that has already been infected.its quite diffcult to spot HIH in small cichlids like the rams...and its a risk u have to take especially if u are buying them from a FS that doesnt provide proper filterations. and in most HIH cases ,the infection begins at the FS.

Hmm... so in other words, there is no cure for it once detected? I don't think my filtration is lacking... nor is my WC regime. Funny thing was, HitH started with a simple "pimple". This Ram I had was super aggressive and I thought it was developing a flower horn bump on the head... later the pimple "burst" and then the fish started to shy away from the other rams...

ready for another shock?....99% of cichlids breed in s.e.asia are infected with HIH.
it all depends on your water condition. bad water condition usually encourage bacteria outbreak which leads to late stage HIH...pimples brusting, bacteria eating thru the wounds to create the infamous hole.
larger cichlids usually will survive the infection...for example take a close look at an adult oscar...tell me wat u see.
if the fish survive the first attack...its immune system will develop a resistant to it...but the scar will remain forever.
no such luck with smaller cichlids...they seldom survive the first outbreak.
so care must be taken on your water condition to prevent outbreaks.
uneaten food ...is the source of this outbreak. dun overfeed...remember
