hi
do any one has frontosa .what age male and female can be identified .some breeders say after 4 month expert eyes can identify male and female .

This is a difficult one.. venting is as best anyone can do with sexing them at that age. Google "venting for fish".

is it best to buy a group of 4 and let them pair .

ok got 6 now . i would like to know if frontosa like plants and drift wood in the tank.also kindly tell how we can get bright color. i dont see any color most of the time black and white .what are the strip count on the body some have 5 and one has 7 in one side.does the strip indicate the breed .

Plants and drift wood are not advisable. Just rocks will do. Plants will be burrowed and moved around making it messy. Driftwood would lower PH... Fronts require high PH around 8.0++ With the right PH, and varied diet, colors will develop. As for stripes, can u show us a picture of the fishes you have.

Fronts don't have 5 stripes. 6 is common in almost all variants. (U must include the stripe on the head) 7 bars is only for Kigoma variant. Both side must have 7 stripes that is. What you may have purchased are poor strains of bred frontosas.

Hi
I think I have Kigoma frontosa all has 7 strips so what is the difference between strips the breed quality changes?. only one shop who sells frontosa here they all are the same with 7 strips so do you say this are not good breed and 6 strips are the good one.
