This is probably one of the most common aequidens sp. available in the trade. You should not have much problem getting it. Try AI or Xian Leng.. most shops that have a any cichlids at all should stock this fish.

Word of advice, please ask your friend to upgrade to a 4ft at least. This fish grows huge. 30cm.

saw a few in Ai a few days back, a 6 inch speciment, at rm10 each....not really good grade, fins are not really that attractive.
one advise though on this fish.. if u get them small lets say a 2 to 3 inch speciment chances are they will grow up ugly. so its better to get a bigger one..where u could juge the fins and face stripes and it wont be that expensive either

Green terror originates from South America la... not Taiwan, but is probably bred by the thousands in Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore la. Anyway, why your fren wanna pick this fish when if he doesn't want it to grow big? This fish is naturally big wan mah.. if wan't smaller fish go look for something potentially smaller lar.

Doc, how many times have I told you that its in a cichlid's nature for them to burrow. Stem plants are not to be put wif big burrowing cichlids. If you insist, then use "fake plants" or plants with big leaves, i.e Java Ferns and Amazon Sword plants, tie it to a rock and anchor it deep into your substrate.

Thanks for the advice.
I know green terror originate from Latin America, but the breed/sp from taiwan come in limited size (when adult). That is good for office tank keeping, and he likes the coloring on this sp. that's why he's thinking of keeping it in the 2' tank.

CC,
Do you keep this green terror?
Do you mind sharing photo with us?

I don't keep any GT's. Used to, but not anymore. BTW, what do you mean that the type that is bred in Taiwan being limited size? Care to enlighten me?

We've been told that the adult fish of that GT is about 4-5 inch.
And i've seen it before also in a LFS, where the adult male & female are about that size. The tauke got the pair from Taiwan but not willing to sell it, keeping as collection.

Most probably, he's planning to breed them for local market.

But that was last year, i went to the same LFS but no more GT of that kind. Could not talk to the tauke to get more info.
May visit them again iof i got time, perhap next week end.

Cheers
