We are a collection of Angelfish enthusiasts, hobbyists and breeders who are interested in the advancement of our hobby, through improvements in the quality of the fish we keep and breed, by employing the standards which this society will develop.

Our founding membership comes from the Angelfish Forum where the idea evolved that a set of standards used throughout the hobby would benefit not only the Angelfish, but also the professional breeders, hobbyists and enthusiasts who enjoy these wonderful freshwater fish.

The Angelfish Society is a fairly new organization, dedicated to the enhancement of the Angelfish through high quality breeding programs using standards established by the society. Defining these standards will be the initial focus of the society. It is our hope that these standards will help to avoid the widespread use of "cute" or "catchy" names for Angelfish phenotypes which seem to proliferate in the names of other species, and serve only to confuse the novice Angelfish enthusiast. We will also be focused on setting standards for identifying the genotypes of the Angelfish we breed and keep, and the genetic notations used to describe them.

Don't mean to hijack ur post, but there are already some good Angelfish sites online. One that comes to mind for one who like wild form Angels would be the site below.... Has a forum that has great info about Angels in General.

http://www.finarama.com/tba/

Real Cichlid... Just thought I'd also tell you (and the "purist") that most domesticated Angels are no different to Flowerhorns. They were originally developed from a hybrid of a few species of wild Angels (Many of which were undescribed then.).
.... same goes with domesticated Discus.

I would avoid labelling oneself as "Purist", because that unknowingly is hypocritical.

Point taken !! Edited the heading !!
H/ever Imo Discus and Angels are line bred rather than cross bred ! It's the same sp. and unlike F/H they use different sp's to cross them.
just my 0.02 cents !
