Who are you directing your question to about bringing in the large CA's, Me or Ari?
and what do you mean how'd you know whether they are real CA's? If it's endemic to Central America then they mah qualify as CA's lor. What's so confusing about Jeff Rapps photos? Yeah, they always have a damn good picture.. and always remember that some Macro Lens shots can capture details that you can never see with your naked eye.. that's why they look so remarkably good... and furthermore, how does updating the cichlid database relate to how they look in the future?

hehehe...i tink hes reffering to u lar taikor joe..since im not an exporter.
and about real CAs or not i tink he means..are they true breed or cross breeds. now , doktor here has every right to question this especially in malaysia, as everyone knows the flowerhorn story.
of course jeff rapps always have the best looking photos...dun tell me he hope to sell any if he the post the worst photos.

No doktor...u dun have to wait a few years to know how good your CAs look. if u know your stuff,u could almost tell how a juvenile will grow up to be with 70% accurancy. most CAs have a very fast growth rate, they reach adulthood within 8 to 9 months, if u feed them well, have a good tank system a growth rate of 1 inch per month is easy to achive.

in my case i will always buy juveniles...for example 10 pieces, if u choose 10 good looking juveniles then from there u choose the best out of the 10, u will end up with an impressive 1. sometimes u will get 2 or 3 good ones but never 10. so what do u with the rest?...cull them! is that a waste?...no!.. if u are going for the best. lets say u bought the 10 at rm200...after selecting u get 2 ...just accept the fact that u bought 2 good speciements at rm100 each.
to get a selected good speciment at the FS would surely cost u a bomb...good CAs are not cheap!

Default True colours

I guess that some fish may take a longer time than the others based on natural selection (survival of the fittest). Others may not show colour as there are too many other dominating fish. But something that I've learnt is that if we wait long enough, they do show their true colours. Now, 5 out of 7 have the blue-green hue on the body and 2 have some red on their fins (normal, kah?)

I suppose we need to provide the proper environment if we want them to show adequate growth. Time for the Cichlid course for us, CC. I think most of us cant upgrade our tanks too often. We need to home in on the species that we like or one that suits us.

Thanks to CC for the reliable imports. I hear that we have a few new additions to the cichlid interest, like me. The others, are they still around? I should think that once we have gone through the learning cycle, we will pick and choose what we fancy.

since u are staring over...might as well do it the proper way....once and for all. oh..one more thing..i have yet to see a Doktor who is poor..so dun pretend no money ah

Default I will see your system...

Ari, you say your system is good. Wait lah. I want to see. I think it is but it depends whether it's what suits me or my fish. One man's fish is another man's poison!
