can Brichardis live in 2 feet aquarium without a water pump??.. i wanna bring some fish to my school and introduce this kind of fish to my pupils.. but the school are cutting unnecessary costs.. n mybe i'm not allowed to use the water pump.. you know: water pump -> electricity -> unecessary cost -> school's debt

Can your head lar...if u do water change twice a day ...u will only kill the fish. this fish is cheap but doesnt mean they can take what we give them. infact they are very sensitive to new water. Asbestos....NO they cannot be without a filter system. a small air pump to run an undergravel filter should be ok for 6. the other alternative is ...a matured outdoor planted tank. no need for pumps.

most likely the brichardis will kill the haps no matter at what size , and they dont need to be in the spawning mood to kill....

a julie might a bit too arrgesive for the brichardis especially the adult julies. Julies are diffcult to keep, they need a very good filteration system and a large tank...if you are thinking about keeping them in a 2footer...then forget it. they need large territories especially during spawing. but are you sure AI are selling females?...i doubt they do, julies once in an established tank will breed easily. rm16 is cheap actually...when i was keeping julies back in 80s , they were something like rm120 each, but that was a long time ago when julies were very rare. in bangkok, a julie pair are sold at around rm70. so im very suspcious at the rm16 price tag.

Ari, I have seen Julies in AI before. I think the price is around there also. But when I was there, they were selling Julidochromis Marlieri or Transcriptus, not sure. Females? I doubt there were any. Then again, how to tell?

Marlieri at rm16? wow..are sure its not transcriptus or dickfeldi? the thing about julies is its almost imposible to tell the sexes until they matured, usually the females are larger than males. so many soh hai greedy buy big ones thinking bigger one must be males...hehehe. if the ones in AI is marlieri, then dun wait just buy therm. they are superb fish to keep. the way they swim is really funny...not like dashing there and here like most africans ( thats the reason why i never keep AC..coz they swim like orang gila, not an inch of class) . malieri will swim like a helicopter, move up and down, side ways, and even swim upside down...its really fun to see them swim. they mate for life, and once a pair is establish ...NEVER EVER change your tank decoration, coz that will start a fight and most cases the female will kill the male. so this fish is not really suitable for novice aquarist...
