cant be sure if they are colour fed, but i dont think so. got all this photos from a Dutch forum. it got to do with water chemistry and quality food....and mat salleh attitude. what i mean is these are expensive fishes over there and mat sallehs usually take care of their investments.
the owner of the photos said he fed his cichlids with Aquamaster, an expensive protein loaded pellet. i tried it with my blackbelts, theres some result especially around the throat area, bright red....but then its rather expensive and cichlids never eat enough.
if we want to consider feeding such pellets means colour fed than they are.
but seeing these photo makes me determine to find out ways to improve my water quality.

eh boss.. tu camera punye gambar take a lot of pictures to the extent that even your eyes cannot see wan lar. Don't bliff the hype u see too much on the net. No doubt the ang moh strains are good.. but sometimes when we import them oso they don't get too those desired standards. It could be due to the person raising them too, with water conditions as well as their diet. At most times we always get juvies, so we can only groom them and hope for the best. Siapa mau import big fish? Mahal macam sial.. summore freight one box one ikan onli.. bankrupt lar. Also of recent.. think the Americans oso complain about the standards having dropped since the 80's. Need more wild strains to be injected to have a bigger gene pool, but with the decline in interests of CA's who's gonna bother ler?

Default Colour or no colour

I think uncle yogi and CC is right. I have asked the Petfrd fellas also and they say their photos are specially chosen from the good looking ones with good lineage. Doesnt mean ours cannot show colour, just have to ask RazorB how to do it well! Hehe! Most of us dont have ideal tank conditions or over populate our tanks!

wat lar u all...of course those photo are choosen from the best, its a guide to how good those fishes could be.
if you wan to spend money buy big fishes straight away then its up to you.
of course must start from small fishes, and just like what cc say, groom them. buy several, and select the best to raise.
but the first thing we should do is to kill the malaysian attitude...so whats thats???

1) buy bargain fish and expect it to be champions
2) before the fish can grow to adult ,try to pair them off liao, wan to make money liao. helo kawan, cichlids that had pair off will never regain their true colours lar, especially the females...
3) when buy makan, expensive a bit make noise liao, helo rm15 per kilo pellets how to be nice ah? buy cheap food and the fish will grow big, but colour tara good, so go scold the ppl who sell you the fish.
4) have 4 feet tank, but semua taroh. helo ... fish must have space to grow properly lar
5) spend money on expensive fish , food and tanks, but then buy rm20 top box filter...wat lar,...filteration no good fish how to come out colour ah?

its the way ppl groom their fishes that makes the different.....to buy a fish and expect them look like in the photos is wrong...but try your best to get near to that standard.

cc joe has very nice fish, better than what other fs could offer. its a good start and its up to you to make the best out of those fishes.

btw ...i know cc never feed quality food...hahaha...he cant afford it since he had hundreds of fish to feed. so cc you must come see the zonatus you gave me....come time look like shit, owner tara kasi makan good 1 , now lain cerita hor, chun liao. eat aquamaster pellet tau, beefheart, and live in hard water tank

Default No need to add colour...?

I feed my fish different types of food. After some time they choose what they like. The BD like pellets. Nics whack everything that is edible. But I think when they are in a stable environment with good water circulation, the colour is great! So, I dont feed them special colour augmentation feed. Neither do I think we should dye our fish?!
