Hi Stan,

He has standby...I am sure .....as he stated in his post that he used 2 heaters instead to push the temperature back to comfort zone.

Thanks Andrew and Stan. I feel much better now...I was really worried when saw the poor things so scared. (I should have caught the problem earlier!!) Hey, this was a good experince.

How about the grey dots on my blue diamond? BD had it before the problem and they disappeared /faded after a light salt treatment.

after this temperature problem, the spots appeared again...I am watching closely but wondering what they are..(I need to buya good camera to take pictures)

Also, same fish has small fin rot for 3 weeks now and it doesn't seemed to grow nor heal...Should I just leave it?

Thank you!!
Fethi

If you discus are kept in biological system or planted tank, fin rot is a sign that the system is not in balance and you need to do more water change and cleaning of filter and/ or undergravel. That will improve the situation.

But if it is in a bare tank (clinical tank), then there is some undesirable infestation of parasites and a PP treatment is needed.

Ciao!
Andrew

Thanks Andrew. Do you use regular kitchen salt for treatment? all I can find is iodized salt here at the stores...
What is exactly PP? Is it only sold at the pharmacies?

Yes,

Normal salt or what we usually call 'coarse salt' or 'Sea salt'.

But if the purpose of putting salt is to help in the bowel movement/ motion, you use Magnesium Sulphate commonly known as 'Empson salt' or 'Eno'.

PP is Potassium Permanganate, a product used for soaking smelly feet...purple in color ...can be found in the Pharmacy.....better from the chemist..for raw product.

Take care,
Andrew

Default Tank background and fish color...

Happy new year!! Do you know if the tank background and surrounding afeect the fish color? I am not talking about different light or anything, I am talking about white vs balck or dark blue backgrouns...Would the fish change its color or do fish camouflage?
I bought a turquaz dicus which looked pretty light colored and all red etc, howvere in my tank it is dark turquaz...similarly, a pigeon I bought loked to have white/silver stripes but now it's stripes are dark silver/pepper...They look healthy and eating very well. They have been like this from the day one? In one day, they changed the color (They were still in the bag in the tank and they changed the color).

So much to learn...I agree with you Stan, diffcult to find a person with 30+ experience
