Smile Quarantin Procedures for Discus in new homes

Much had been said about this subject but there appear to be mountains of opinions on it as to what to use and for how long.

I like to initiate this thread to invite ppl with experiences to contribute to the topic make this subject more understood.

Perhaps our moderator can make this thread a sticky one !!

Cool

For starter, keep your new discus away from your "old" discus with a separate tank for awhile before introduce into your main tank(s) - observe for disease ... cheers!

Chiak lat lah,

I have been using about 12 table spoon for a 4 ft tank (full ).
In the last 3 months I must have used more than I kg of salt per week ( 2 tank 50% water change every day ), so, maybe in total more than 20 kilo lah........
Sundry shop boss wondering why?.........
.........eat salt more than eat rice?............

Cheers!

B T,

The last thing I want is to start any quarrel here. Being matured but xiao kakis, we will agree to disagree ... Facing our precious ones is joyful but also sometime stressful enough so we can do without any additional pressure...LOL
Also, occasional mental musturbations is good for the brain...
There is a suggestion that contributor to this thread should try to offer a quantitative approach to this procedure so that we can benefit and model after a good quarantin practice.

haha, thanks david,

general terms not helpful...
sorry roadspike. since now thread is more specific now lets keep it that way. it's important as some treatments are not as forgiving. putting too much and your fish will belly up. putting in too little has no efficacy. anti biotic treatments are also useless below strength and will stay useless for a long time.

i always kena tembak by guru andrew soh with laser when he ask how much i say one handful, he said not enough... ZZZAP! haha!

he says treatment is 1-2ppt for treatment. discus can withstand 6ppm. so i have to go and figure out how much is 2ppt.
ppt is equals to g/l [grams per liter]

----------------------------

feeding during treatment is normal like anytime except it's one meal a day and all they can eat for 1-2 minutes and scoop up uneaten food. not saying this is only way but this is how i do it...so member's continue to share but can be more specific la as we all try to learn something from each other.

sorry to screw up everybody's day...haha!
