the term hybrids is way too loose...
what you mean are perhaps mutant strains golden, pigeon and snakeskins.

IMO cobalts and blue diamonds look good in planted tanks...

dirty golden and pigeon line fish look fugly in dark and planted tanks...

all the new 'wild' discus are suspiciously beautifully coloured and patterned IMO.

hahaha...love the word u use...FUGLY!!!!
yea its way too loose...and believe me they are mutants..no better then the flowerhorns...and i sure hate getting bunched up as Lou Han boys.

the was a time when selective strains such as Turquoise, Royal and Brilliant Blue/Green are acceptable to me since they bred thru selecting the best fishes within the same strain. years of hard work to create such fishes.
Then everything gets messy..breeders starts taking shortcuts , mix this and that ...lets see what turns up....the flowerhorn formula!

if a discus lover had seen what discus were suppose to look like before all the Fugly discus turned up...im sure he would never pay 50cents for such mutants.
