Joe, I really wasn't serious about it paying for the plane ticket . I just think it would be an interesting vacation. Besides, from the pictures of Borneo and it's surroundings really captivating. Don't really expect to bring back a couple of hundred of macrostomas and make a bundle. The amount fish traders charge for these fish is justifiable.

Hahaha! Guys don't get me wrong... I'm not in anyway deterring you guys to go forage in the jungle. It's just that its easier said than done. Collecting fish and plants are no easy task and best left to the professional collectors. Anyway I heard the Johor MNS team goes deep into the Endau Rompin forrest every month to study the flora and fauna. So, u guys can probably sign up for MNS or call them for more details. At least its a guided tour. To do this to make a living isn't really worth the effort, but to do it for leisure sure takes your mind off the daily hustle and bustle.

Professional collector! are you talking about me? (joking...)

Those group into the Endau Rompin are science students and professors. They gonna apply the permit to go in n collect all the stuff out. MNS team won't allow to bring anything out from there.

Btw, MNS having the jungle trecking, jungle walk, slice show, etc all the time. But you gonna join as member (RM80-100 per annual).

You forrest poacher lar... not proffesional...nanti kena tangkap ranger.. hahahaha. It's a good thing they don't allow anything to be taken out of there without permits which shows that there are regulations mah. Only for scientific research mah... I think we got damn a lot of choices liao ler in terms of fishes and plants. Just that sometimes things can be rather pricey.. but then again like I said above if you wanna go collect... just consider whether its worth it or not lor.

After the Singapore Science Centre announced they found the smallest fish in the world in Borneo. And there is a Malaysia local university professor found another species of smallest fish in the world in Perak.

Guess what...you are not believe anaconda found in Borneo. But then a group of scientists just found the smallest Kangaroo in "the lost world" of Papua New Guinea - Indonesia early this year. (which it shares with the Indonesian territory of Irian Jaya)

Soya, hv you read the aqua journal which is english issue...36 or 34...(forgotten) about Amano was flied to Borneo for some photograph n exploring the borneo. He was mentioned about the helicopter pilot told him about the 20meter long of Anaconda.

And please don't forget. Borneo jungle is the oldest jungle in the world. Which is 200million year old. The second should be Endau Rompin which is 130million years old. They are not as big as Amazon. but the age... believe it...there are lot of stuff in such an old jungle which we are not yet find out.
Hahaha Dom, the Anaconda story again........Anyway just to mentioned that I was told the same story by the locals there. This happened like decades back when logging was the prime business of Sabah. For people who dunno me, well I declare myself first....yup I'm a Sabahan, born in the heart of logging industry, Sandakan.

This 20m snake not neccesarily an anaconda, it's existence is unknown, maybe it is the grandaddy of all snakes because of it's size, maybe an undescribed species of snake.

During those logging days, logs of timbers are cut and dragged into a collection canal connecting to the river, when sufficient volume is achieve this logs are pull into flowing river so that it will flow downstream where the timber factories were located. Since technology was limited those days, this loggers will actually hook the logs and pull them towards the current.

What happen was one of the loggers hooked onto what he thought was a piece of timber, you can't actually different when there were so many half submerged/floating timbers what the heck it is. So with a sudden jolt this "timber" actually slided a few metres ahead and submerged into the river. The workers there had the shock of their life.

So how did they came to the conclusion of 20m long its due to estimation of the girdth of its body. And they claim it is anaconda because anaconda is the only snake known to be able to submerge in water discounting water snake and sea snake..........Hahaha this is not the largest snake story yet, I remembers there's a documentation on TV that shown a snake track as wide as 2 car lanes in Amazon.........this has to be one of those Rippley's Believe It or Not
