I haven't come across hobbyists culturing seaweed. Do you mean those bought from the market one? Those dried for human food consumption?

You should try the macro-algae. Chk the LFS, FishBoy got bunch of them.
They need good light only, as far as I aware.

i pick it up from port dickson and some of them bought from fishboy, but some of my seaweed start changing colour from green to white. i ask the owner how to take care, she say just open the light 24 hours and use calcium+3 from red sea. but it seem doesn't work for me.

i use 1 T5 light(blue), 2 feet 1. forget how many watts oledi!!! my tank is just 1 1/2, so have 1/2 light space remaind. i also open from day to nite, nite back to day. just have bleeny inside to eat the hair algae which wash away from the main tank. Keeping seaweed very hard lar...........macam ini tak boleh, macam itu tak boleh. tau mau keep tak boleh, mau keep pun tak boleh, banyak kacau.

If your macro algae is turning white then that means that it is going sexual. You need to trim back most macro algae atleast weekly or it will go sexual. When macro algae goes sexual it releases all kinds of pollutants into the water.
