Default Oil like surface in my marine tank

Guys....
I have this problem with oily layer thingy on the surface of the water and I can never get rid of them permanently. I scoped them up but then this sticky layer will reappear in in a week time. This is very tyring for me. Any solution?
My tank was built in such a way that water that get sucked into the pump is lower than the surface of the water. (does it make sense??? )

Gracias

Increase surface aggitaion. The film that is building up is a protein layer. Increased surface aggitation will help to keep it broken up.

You can try use a "surface skimmer". Its a tube designed specifically to drain surface water. You need pump. The problem is to find the match hosing to connect them.

Thanks ppl.

Kelmen, where do I get this Surface skimmer? I read about it on the net.

Firefighter, I am trying not to create too much of bubbles in my tank and to avoid unnecessary cleaning. Can you tell me how to increase water movement without extra bubbles in the tank?

Gracais

Powerheads are the easiest solution to more surface aggitation...you should be able to have a LOT of flow without creating any extra cleaning. Just dont use the venturi feature on the powerheads.

I'm using this HOB filter with surface skimmer. I block the lower inlet with tape to get more flow from surface. Within a few minutes all the oily surface cleared. Bought this for RM17 at Xian Leng Aquarium (beside WetWorld Shah Alam).

The eassiest way is to use your powerhead .. turn it upsite down and connect it with hose and put somekind of filter (wool) at the end of the hose. Hope u understand what i'm trying to explain ... if not have to search for the pic then hehheeh
