to keep it well :

1) Check ur PO4, dont give hair algae grow beside ur Gonio.
2) Check ur NO3, dont more than 10ppm.
3) water parameter as normal loh.....
4) Lighting normal also loh, can use MH,FL or PL
5) U need to feed it daily with Live phytoplankton (purchase it at any LFS, as i know Natural Plant have)
6) Gonio need high nutrient to survive(such as mg,ca,kh,iodine,trace element,strontium,food - phytoplanton,cyclopze).
7) Need water flow to swing it tectankle(moderate flow)(for better result, dont adjust ur flow only swing the tectankle in 1 direction, ned to adjust the flow to swing it left right left right).
Buy 6 lines wrasse if found any tiny worms at gonio. the worms will attack gonio.

Bout the phytoplanton, u need to cold him inside refegirator. it need temp 15 to 25. need to shake it every 10 hours, if not the bottom cell will die. the phytoplankton will smell a bit smelly, but if u smell sour, then the phytoplanton cell already dead.
Thanx, ll start wit mor test kit(wa! so muc ting 2 test) n lighting...

Default Hair Algae

cs , do you have any problem with hair algae, my marine tank is flourishing with them, i intend to trim them and get the coral beauty to hopefully eat the rest. i got a 4ft tank with a sump and at present some live rocks, soft corals, clam, one cleaner wrasse, a pair of clowns, coral beauty, very soon to be added a pair chromis.

wah, so secret until PM me meh. Me reply ur PM jor..

At the beginning, i have hair algae outbreak for months.THen i start reseach and learning to know what is the root cuase for this.

For your information, hair algae = PO4. WHen your PO4 level is high than desire, then hair algae diatoms will be generated and started to bloom. For easier to understand, i write down into points lar(lazy ler):

source :
a) High PO4
b) Long photo period
c) High silicate
d) Heavy feeding
e) High level of trace elements

solutions:
a) add algae predator(blue leg hermit crab, algae blenny, urchin, snail for eating diatoms)
b) shorten photo period
c) Increase flow
d) Avoid dead spot found inside ur tank
e) Less feeding
f) Good skimming
g) purhase PO4 remover(Rowa,Purephos - avaiable at Fishboy/Natural Plant) - other brands not good.

steps u needed now:
1) Take out those LR with hair algae, brush them or gorek those hair algae out.
2) Change ur water 20% today and tomolo
3) Use RO water please. cause tap water contain PO4 and NO3.
4) get a PO4 remover(put in high flow area, if got Media reactor, lagi bagus)
5) shorten up the lighting period.eg.6 hours a day until all hair algae gone.

NOTes:
a) Becareful of ur coral beauty. I scare he/she will nip ur clams
b) chromis? hard to kept one woh...cause after few month, they will dead one. dunno y? many great reefers always fail in keeping them.

hope that helpful to u.
