Dear all,
I purchased this fish yesterday. It looks like butterfly, i'm concern as i do not have a reef tank. The aquarium keeper told me it eats normal feed, thats why i decided to take a try. And now, i noticed it does not eat any feed that i put in. it's abviously hungry as it has been biting on rock and glass wall looking for food. Im getting panic, there isnt reef at all in my tank to feed it. I tried to go online to check for its details, i couldnt even find this fish. Can anyone enlighten me? pls pls... |

looks more like a sailfin tang to me. they are quite hardy so long as yr water parameters are within range.
give it a few days to acclimatize. offer it nori as most tangs cannot rsisit them. finally, how long have your tank being set up? tangs acclimatize better in mature tanks. |

Its a juvenile Sailfin tang. Quite hardy n easy to keep, once it starts eating, n it usually will eat anything n everything. Try out all the diff types of marine pellets, frozen shrimp, frozen brine-shrimp, frozen bloodworm, nori. Soak in Entice, or garlic extract.
In future id suggest u research/id ur fish b4 buying, n ensure its eating. I always ask the LFS to feed pellets or frozen food to show me its eating healthily. Happy feeding |

This is the best piece of advise for any beginner prior to buying the fish.

Some people will mix with some other fish, when they see other fish is eating they will start to follow. By the way, what type of food you've been feeding? can u post some pictures so that other people can assess the brand and product. |
