hey mates, please help me.. i bought an 11" adult six-bar angel two weeks ago, it is magnificient. but the problem came when it doesnt want to eat.. tried everything, from prawn meats, vegetables, freshwater shrimps to saltwater shrimps (which i collected from a nearby clean, unpolluted beach) and even live edible clams and young anemones. The six bar merely swim past them and continue swimming after a round of inspection. I tried enticing it to eat by pressing prawn flesh onto dead corals, trying to make an impression that those are coral polyps, hoping that it will come by and eat them. But still, it doesn't help. What should I do next? Will anyone advice me on other methods or other kinds of food to offer to? I am very sad and worried that if this marvellous fish of mine will end up starving n dead.. your help is much appreciated. thanks!

The trick to successfully keeping marine fish is 2 things:
First n most important is to ensure u hv a very stable n fully matured aquarium. If ur tank is only recently setup, n ur water is not fully cycled, then no fish is going to eat or survive for long. Second, always buy marine fish tat r eating aggressively, ie. u see it hungrily eating its food (not just taste-taste n spit out). Most marine fish r caught using cyanide, n very often too much is used which poisons the fish. Externally the fish may look bright n vibrant, but internally its organs r damaged. So always ask the shop keeper to feed the fish in front of u. Else its like buying the lottery. Another thing u may try is soaking its food in enhancers like Entice. These products r supposed to increase the smell or flavour of the food so tat fussy eaters will bite. Happy feeding PS. In my experience, 6bars r not fussy eaters n will readily take to any food, even pellets. But at 11" urs is pretty matured, so mayb a little harder to switch diets. Good tat ur offering it a nice buffet of food. Keep trying Damn, only just noticed tis is an old post. Oh well, happy reading then... Last edited by CnT : 01-06-2008 at 08:37 AM. |
