First you have to split your aquarium type. Fish only or coral tank?
If it is fish only then it is easier, less control parameters.
Every week 10% water replacement is best, if not then bi-weekly is good enough. Check Kh rather check pH. Kh stable, pH must stable.
Most of the aquarium shop advice start with fish only tank.
I am no comment on seahouse because never try before. Good luck....

It is better to seperate the seahorse from the fishes. This is because the fishes will normally swim faster and eat the food first. The seahorse will starve to death if it cannot get the food. I think that 6 fishes might be too many fishes for a 1 foot tank. 3 or 4 fishes should be ok. It was too early for you to stock your tank. Should wait around 1 month or more before stocking your tank.

y did u put the sea horse in a nano these kinda tanks can go unstable easily by over stocking plus the sea horse needs colder water that means u need a cooler.iv' seen sea horses get lathargic because the water was at room temperature. put in the ice pack and it started to move around and feed .the very next day the owner bought a cooler that set him back 2k.

Hi there,

I will try to sum up ur concern:-

Quote:
"the problem is i go to few lfs but all of them have their own way to start the marine fish. some say need to change 10% of the water every week some say no need to change then another say no need all this thing"
You need some general knowledge before you begin putting fish into it. The basic knowledge is the water quality, temperature and lighting.

"ph n kh kits to test the water"
Yes, u need several test kits to begin check your water before putting in fish.

What I've here is a reliable water test kit from a reliable brand JBL, I've the PH, KH and NO2

If NO2 is high, then you need to perform water change, or i would suggest you have a sump tank or canister. Do you have skimmer & water filter? You need a skimmer to remove the oil and dirt, also a good fitration system recommended wiv biological ball.

This are good quality biological stuff to grow and retain friendly bacteria

Also make sure you've this as well, this equipment is to test the salt content of your tank. Acceptable range should be within 1.020 - 1.023

PH should be within 8.2-8.3

Since u oledi bought the sea horse i doubt it will stay alive for long as i assume don't have a chiller cost around RM 900-RM1,200, but wat u can do now is buy a quarantine box and cling it on ur tank, then feed the sea horse there, maybe miracles happen.

In order to prevent further death, please do make sure the water quality.

For fish food i recommend JBL because it is quite nice and the fish love them.

Make sure u've a very good powerhead to give more oxygen for the fish

I'm using a nano skimmer, it is a skimmer & filter, but i've a bigger filter wiv bio stuff from JBL as well. Try remove the carbon filter and replace wiv bio rings or bio media (this will eat up iron and some good minerals, once carbon is full it will release back to water). Put some JBL denitrol into the filter, it will eat up ur nitrate (NO2) lvl.
