Swimming problem, always floated and somersaulted

Recently I discovered one of my goldfish has swimming difficulty. It always floated and tilted to the left while eating. It somersaulted at the same time. The goldfish can still swims down the bottom of the tank but it required great effort.

Try soaking your pellet feed , or use sinking type. Sometimes f/g/f gulp air when feeding . Also dry feed can swell in stomach causing pressure against the swim bladder . This then upsets the balance
However if the fish is permanently having balance problems then its probably congenital and wont improve.

Just to add a bit on top of what forrest had said, most of the time once the goldfish has such problem, there's no cure for it. The fancy varieties has lots of this problem. Having this problem will not cause any life threatening problem to the fish. The fish have to struggle to swim around, that's all.

Thank you very much both. The goldfish according to the dealer, is imported from China. It is about 12cm, no back fin and metallic black in colour. Would it be wise to stop feeding for a few days to see whether there is any improvement?

most likely a ranchu... Try to cut down feeding and when feeding use small pellets pre-soaked until soft.

Also if it doesn't help the swim bladder problem, feed shelled green peas and frozen bloodworms.

If that still no help, then it's probably the body shape... not much u can do then.

Guys... I've a way too... which happens to be affective towards my gold fish.. actually once there's a fish floats or summersoalts, it's due to bladder infection.. and to overcome it is by reducing the intake of food.. and try feeding green peas only.. and thing green will do exp spinich, lectuce... BUt all of it must be boiled... to soften it... Consider this as vegetarian diet... It works with me and i hope it works for u too...

Maybe constipation. Do as Jay says and try feeding mashed green peas and see if that helps.

Plz try not to stuff the fish... a day i mean 24 hours with out is ok but a few days.. pity them hehehehe
