I have a telescope eyed fantail that is considered a "calico" yet I've seen pictures of "tri-colored Moors" that look like her.

Is she a "calico" because she has "spots" on a white background, or is there something more about this classification?

Calico have nacreous scaling(semi translucent),tri colours have normal scaling.

Thanks a bunch. Although I still am quite curious as I know Koi are based similarly (background versus foreground).
