Hi Anybody,

I need help. Currently I'm keeping my Ranchus in a 24" x 12" x 6" fibreglass (Black) tank. First of all, is it advisable to even keep them in
such an environment. Secondly, my tank REALLY SMELL. Is there any
way to get rid of the smell? Will appreciate any help out there.

Thx & regards,
Kcaand

Ur tank a bit small. Hopefully u'll upgrade to bigger tank soon. Bigger tank, less water quality problems.
Next, u don't mention a filter? Are u running a filter? Filter may be undersized, hence u have ammonia accumulation and the smell.

Activated carbon/charcoal, may help eliminate the smell. These days, (with the flowerhorn craze), fish shops often sell these red plastic balls encasing activated carbon. U could use one or 2 of that in your tank to eliminate the smell. U will have to replace the carbon every month though.

Hi Kev,

The filter I'm using is the sponge filter that working at 300L/H. Is it powerful enough? This filter is giving me a little bit of problem. Sometimes it does give out tiny air bubbles which I know is good as it'll aerate the water; however most of the time it doesn't. My friend told me
that the motor might be malfunctioning and ask me to upgrade to a new one.

Thx & regards,
Kcaand

Hi Jay,

Thx dude , I think I'll follow the advice of Kevkoi to get either the Eheim 2215 (Classic range) or the Via Aqua 450 canister filter.
