I've had the same 5 goldfish for around 7 years now. Recently one of my fish has started to become slightly swollen in the abdomen area. It seems that the swollen area is a dark colour under the scales. I lost one fish not to long ago to a very similar problem. At first I thought it could be old age but now I'm wondering if it's a disease. Is there anything I can do to fix my fish? Should I separate it from the other fish in case it's contagious? My sick fish is showing no other visible signs of being unhealthy. Please help!!! |

Dear sick fish,
In my opinion, ur prob is becoz some digestive prob which have been in the fish itself for sometime... I would like to recomend u 'SWIMBLADDER TREATMENT' number "13"... u can give it a try... I heard from my friend which has something similar as ur prob and he told me his fish is in good shape after using it... Hope it helps u too.. May ur fishy be well and happy... |

IMO, u have a bacterial problem. Sounds like dropsy. I suggest u give the tank a good clean. Take out the gravel and give it a good clean. Try some Furan or Tetracycline if the problem persist. It may just be due to aquarium hygine....
good luck mate. |

Both are antibacterial remedies. Tetracycline is an antibiotic. It's quite commonly available, but it's a bit outdated today as many of the bacterial strains are resistant to it already. Doxycycline is better, but need prescription to get them.
I believe Furan treats gram negative bacterial problems and tetracyline is a broad antibiotic which treats both gram negative and positive bacteria. Me no doctor so I may be wrong.... |
