Hello all,

Just spoke to my friend's dad who's been keeping ranchus for about 5 years, who's got very beautiful wen growth. After much lengthy conversation, he revealed to me that a good eating habit contributes a lot to the current state of his ranchus; and he's willing to share it with me and all ranchus lovers out there. As for me, I'll be trying out his formula.

Anybody, pls advise on his formula:

4 meals per day
Meal 1 - High protein food about 60% protein
Meal 2 - Hikari blood worms
Meal 3 - Hikari Pellets, semi sinking type
Meal 4 - Tofu with eggs???

He mentioned that ranchus especially love meal 4.

Anyone who's got result from this feeding, pls let me know. Thx. Anyone out there who's got any "secret formula" too?

Hi Jay,

Yes, it's the frozen type which A LOT of people are using to feed their Luohans.

Green peas??? Is it those fresh from the market or do you need to steam them first?

Anyway let me know the results, ok?

Keep in touch.

Well... Mine is the ones i got from my mum mix vege in the freezer... I usually put it into the microwave for 2 minutes and slice into small cubes before feeding... It's kind of second option for bladder infection... Coz touch wood after 2 months, none of my 9 little lionheads have any prob. digesting...

By the way, which type of lighting is best for goldfishes??? And, must it b on 24/7???I heard bout something to use for testing the % of nitrate in the previous msgs... May i know where u guys buy it??? I'm trying to get one... hehehe All the best and Guess it's still not to late to wish u all a Happy Chinese New Year... Year Year Have Fish...

Hi Jay,

Sorry, I think I can't help much on the lighting issue. However, I've read it somewhere that the light must be on for a minimum period of 8 hrs for any indoor tank / pond.

You mean feeding them green peas can solve bladder infection?

Recently I've noticed that one of my ranchu seems to tilt to one side whenever it swims. This ranchu happens to be the greediest of all my ranchus. I know I've been feeding them too much. I've reduced the quantity of food for them. However, it the fastest swimmer which can "AUTO DETECT" food; in the end, it's the one which eats the most.

See that you keep 9 goldfishes, any reasons? Let's start a topic about fengshui. I remembered kevkoi mentioning that it's not very good to keep
fishes in room, except maybe in the living room or the "CHAI WEI".

Any comments?

Thanx for tips Kc... Actually peas does helps but takes sometime... Try to avoid those swimbladder treatment sold in market.. it ha curtain chemical stuffs in it which will shorten the life span of a gold fish.. Furthermore, like us no one likes medicine... Ohh I have one too which i called the vacum cleaner.. it bullies the others by pushing them aside..

Hahaha feng shui.. Wether u believe it or not.. last time i use to keep 9 gold couloured gold fish... and eventually one will die... I tried replacing it three times and after a day or 2... Surely leaved 8... I was worried to get a black one 'coz it might associate itself with the others..

Soo kind of sad... I tride to explore what's the sign behind it.. And did found out that my gold fish needs a black companion... And after much hesitation.. I tried it out.. and touch wood after 2 months everything goes find... Guess I might have misinterpret it...

Hi Jay,

Sorry I couldn't help much as I'm from Singapore and all my whole life (30 yrs), I've just been to Malaysia once.

I think you can check out with Kevkoi, who lives there. From the archives in the forum, I think he'll be able to solve your problem.
