Red Cap turning white

My Red Cap Oranda got hemoraghic (sp) septicemia (I think, sure looked like the description) after I moved him to a new tank. No other fish in the tank got it. He recovered after treatment with Tank Buddies Fungus tabs, and is now healthy, clear white body, and eating, but...parts of his red cap are now white. Does anyone know if it will return to all red or is it irreversibly damaged? Do you think the illness or the medicine killed some of his cap cells? Just curious. Glad he's okay now.

ps. treated his tank pals and moved him back to his old tank, which I also treated, they're all ok.

Well....my Red Cap Oranda is not doing as hunky-dory as I first thought. He seems cured of the HS but his Cap is 80% white now and he has a huge ulcer forming on one eye, the other looks pretty okay. Any ideas?

One of my moors is having a similar problem. The ulcer in the eye, I mean. She has developed a clear protrusion on one of its eyes. Not huge but definitely noticeable. As far as the treatment goes I'm pretty much stomped. I've been keeping the water as clean as possible for her but haven't tried any other treatment. I think it's getting smaller but I could be just seeing things. The only upside is that it doesn't seem to be bothering her and she is as perky as ever.

Good news. The protrusion is definitely disappearing. Or I should say dissappeared already. I guess it just goes to show the importance of clean water. I have not yet encountered a goldfish problem that I haven't been able to crack just by clean water and a bit of salt.
