Default Anyone interested in Japanese Ranchu?

Just wanna find out is there anyone interested in Japanese Ranchu...

If you do, what sort of difficulties do you face if you wanna persue this hobby? Or, if you have some Japanese Ranchu already, I'd like to hear comments/problems you have regarding this fish... maybe I can help out here (If question is beyond my capability to answer, I'll refer Japan).

I start this thread is to know more about what you think about Japanese Ranchu. My group of "Ranchu Fever Kaki" wants to promote this hobby as well as gather more member/enthusiast to synergise knowledge and source of informations. Furthermore, helping others also helps to polish our skills.

We are unofficially (I think, I'm not sure if we are officially now) linked with Malaysia Goldfish Society. What we do is ONLY for the purpose of promoting the hobby and help out fellow enthusiast... not for profit or business or any alike activities.

Any comment is much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Yeemiau,
most of my GFs are from China imports, and it's not easy to get Japanese ranchus in the market; even if you do, like you commented, price is the main barrier. Of course, I'm interested in getting to know more about joining your group and start all over again in learning from you guys on this Japanese ranchus keeping.
So far, my understanding toward Japanese ranchu comes from the website and believe that you would probably have some good advices onto the entry of Japanese Ranchu keeping....
Well, I'm prepared to study again....hope you could shed some lights...

Kiat,

If Japanese Ranchu breed in Malaysia, it'll only cost you Rm2-10 maximum each.... Ranchu needs winter to complete a perfect breeding process (Hibenation is a must). Therefore, Ranchu is not suitable to breed in tropical country like us. Currently, all my Japanese Ranchu is fully bred in Japan. If you wanna get pure breed Japanese Ranchu, May-June is a good time. We have one batch (more or less 1000s) coming in soon, from Japan, it is for my Ipoh group's own skill development (under Japanese breeder's close supervision) and promotion on this hobby..... possible we might be giving out some for free (under certain terms and conditions)... Many details on our planning are not certain yet cos need to consult our teacher before final decision.

If you wanna buy some Japanese Ranchu, don't pay so much for it... it is always overpriced in our market because it is rare. Even if we wanna let go our fish, it'll be according to the Japanese valuation but minus the air freight charges. If you are interested to find out the japanese market price, visit www.ranchu.net for reference. (By the way, that's our teacher's website)

No worries, we are making sure this hobby is affordable for EVERYONE. We are really busy in the progress of doing translation work. We'll be compiling a brief handbook on Japanese Ranchu. Because all information is in Japanese, it'll take some time. This handbook will be selling at the cost of photocopy. Nice? hehe

Please private message me your e-mail so I can keep you up to date with our progress.

Yeemiau, like to find out what is the different between chinese one and the japanese one? I had recently bought 2 calico ranchu from China which I like the colour very much, I know it is not the pure breed. Is it consider better to have a pure breed in state of a cross breed?

My apologies for being straight forward... one is true ranchu and the other is fake ranchu. These are a few thread in this forum touches this topic, here and there. Basically, Japanese only recognise their own bloodlines as pedegree. Those from China, breeder doesn't really care about bloodline... they only care about business.

Another off topic fact. Japanese willing to give away their fish for free just to promote pure breed. Do you think those Chinese breeder willing to do the same? They won't even send you fish before you TT the right amount to their bank account. One is passion and the other business.

Yeemiau,

Are you sure the Japanese will give purebred goldfish for free?? I really doubt that. Most of this Japanese breeders are a closely knit community and the bloodline is like a herritage passed down only within their community like a national treasure.

I'm quite skeptical. But if you've obtained them for free then I have nothing else to say.
