Goldfish in general live for 10-20 years if cared for properly......but if u get to pass the 5 year mark....it is a bonus already...

10 - 20 years = with hibernation, super well taken care, perfect water quality, etc. etc

5 years = our tropical weather, good water quality, etc. etc,

I remember we've ask my Japanese Ranchu Sensai before, He told us in Japan, with normal care, fish will last 8-10 years. He says don't expect our fish live more than 6 years in Malaysia.

Derrick's answer is almost spot on. *respect*

Cheers

Yaeyyyyyyy..hahah

so far the best record for my goldfish is 1 year and a few months and still counting...

i remember last time when i was a little kid..i used to buy and buy and buy goldfishes and cram them all together in one tank but they never even passed the 1 month mark....wat u expect..so inexperienced that time and the tank is just the 1 foot guppy brand plastic aquarium.

depends on water quality, feeding diet & swim space.

Some of mine is very near the 2.5 years mark... still doing fine... But my crown loach past 3 years mark already. hehehe

10 inch Ranchu is normal in Japan... it's HUGE....

I've never seen one before, just heard about it from Sensai.

Talk about big goldfish... Those Jumbo Oranda in Japan really shocking, even "Bruce" need to step aside... 45- 50cm is common in that bloodline.

Cross with ranchu with wakin? To increase size of ranchu? I think may be a 10 year project ler at least, seeing that you need a few generations to fix any characteristic and considering you need at least nisai or oya fish to work with. Like body to look like ranchu, high percentage of fish with dorsal in spawn, etc.

I think one of my Thai ranchu and my black ranchu pair about 4 year mark now. Black ranchu first spawn offspring also about 2 year old mark now.
