hydrogen peroxide, potassium permaganate

anyone here know where 2 get potassium permaganate and hydogen peroxide in Malaysia KL or PJ area. here is a link that shows the way 2 use hydrogen peroxide http://www.rafflesgold.com/forums/in...showtopic=2730. i got a problem understanding the link above, i dun understand

In the short bath
Measure out one part of 3% H2O2 to 10 parts of water and dip the fish in this solution for only 10 seconds(Very easy to remember)

In the long bath
Measure out 15 ml of 3% H2O2 to 1 litre of water and dip this fish in this solution for 10 mins

What he means is to take 3% hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) - it says 3% on the bottle which mean the concentration is .03 Moles H2O2 per 1 Liter of water. That part you dont needa know it sjust an explination of 3%... The peroxide comes as 3% so u dont needa do anything to it....

Next you gotta dilute it in 10 parts of water which just means measure out an amount of water (well say 10 mL) and then add 1 mL (one tenth)of hydrogen peroxide.

The 2nd part is just saying to add 15 mL of hydrogen peroxide straight from the bottle into 1 liter of water. and Vwalah... you got yourself a bath.

Common chemicals available at pharmacies. Hydrogen peroxide can buy off the shelf. Potassium permangenate I'm not sure, but i'm pretty sure it's easily available.

Make sure you are really careful when measuring ammounts, if in doubt use less than you think, or dont do it at all.. you dont want a blind fish!

i intend 2 quarantine my new fish with hydrogen peroxide b4 moving it into the big tank but untill now still havent get any new fish yet. wat harif said [measure out an amount of water (well say 10 mL) and then add 1 mL (one tenth)of hydrogen peroxide.] does it means if i use 10 litre of water then i have 2 put 1 litre of hydrogen peroxide? am i right?

Holy crap... one litre of hydrogen peroxide? They come in 250 ML bottles if i'm not mistaken. No need so much lah! You're dipping them for a while only, not letting them boil in the stuff. Have you tried putting hydrogen peroxide on an open wound? It burns like heck. Putting a mucous covered fish in there will put your fish through hell. It has to be very mild. Actually a 1% solution will be sufficient. And you don't have to treat a 10 litre tank with hydrogen peroxide. Just get a small mug or something, put 1% in Hydrogen peroxide and dip the fish in it for 10 minutes and take it out. Dip for as many days as you need.
