ChinaRyukin,
You have an ecellent setup there. Don't worry, the carpet algea will definately come. When you change water, avoid scrubbing the tank surface, just use your hand gently rub the surface to get rid of the dirt. If you feel a little slimy on the surface, most likely you notice green during the next water change. And you can drag water change 1 or 2 days longer to express the process. If rain water trouble you. use PVC transparent sheet to cover it around 30-40 bucks a sheet (20" x 60") from hardware shop (used for roofing). Sunlight can go thru as well as blocking the rain. But remember to leave around 4" gap for air circulation. elevate the covering material by wood or something workable. You fish looks great. Now I know the ranchus are in good hand. Keep on the good work. Maybe you can elimanate the 2.30 pm feeding and instaed increase the feeding for the earlier 3 times. Ain't it's nice the baby comes to say hello when you giving blood worm? I can't explain the feeling... but I bet you are experiencing it now. And the amazing thing it the process you watch the grow. Have fun! and keep up the good work! Salute!!!

We still have sometime for the full carpet algea diet. So, we still have time to let the carpet algea develop.
On the other hand, here's some benefits on the carpet algea diet. - To develop a good foundation for good wen growth for the future ( As a lot of people already know... but this is not the most important reason) - To develop a good and strong bone structure to ensure the fish will have a strong body at its' adult stage. We want strong body. If the bone structure foundation is not nicely developed. Next time, when the fish is at a big size... it won't look strong but fat, which we don't want. And this is the more important reason.

It should be OK for the time being. Observation isvery important. If you think the shape ain't so nice. Maybe you can play with the timing again and feeding rate.
those little fella is like lego, you can manupilate around with your own idea but my advise is not to go too far out. Look forward for your updates.

Many has enquired about the AJRS DVDs. I'm wondering are there any one else here will be interested in it too. So I can enquire about it in bulk. (cheaper for everyone)
We have year 2003, 2004, 2005. the DVD basically shows the event of All Japan Ranchu Show. How people send fish, the judging routine, and showing all the winning fishes. It'll be a good reference to those still wondering what is a good and bad shape for Ranchu. For some, we have already explain in person on the general idea but this DVD will show the actual ranchu winners. Note: All DVD will be in Japanese language. only see picture and listen to nice music. If you understand Japanese, It'll be a bonus for you to understand those speeches.

ChinaRyukin,
After some discussion with the our Ipoh members, there's some useful info for you and all forum readers, as follows:- - pallets will take around 2 hours for the fish to digest - blood worm will take 1 hour - best to keep fish around 25-29c therefore, for your case, best to feed pallets at 6am 9am 11am, heavier feed/time and bloodworm at 8am 4 times of feeding will be good enough We also notice that the blood worm imported from china is not so clean. If you notice certain abnormal with your fish, please let use know. Such as tiny red spot, lost of appitite, tail rot, gill fluke, etc. This is mainly due to the bacteria brought in from the frozen bloodworm. We have many solutions to clear those illness out with ease. Cheers
