Some tips for DIYers,

If you having trouble finding cover, shades, etc. to cover your tank to stop predators, sunlight, rain, etc.

You can buy half inch PVC pipes to make a frame that suites your tank size. Remember add 1-2 stick of PVC pipe in the middle to add reinforcement strength.

Once you finished your frame. You can buy those PVC netting to attach to the frame by using cable tight.

For those who wants shades, can buy nylon (blue/orange , very common in hardware shop) cloth. Just use stapler to staple the cloth to the frame.

For those who wants sunlight and block rain. Can buy those transparent text book wrapping sheet. use transparent sticky tape and stapler to attach the sheet to the frame.

Economic yet effective. But for those shades, please make sure there'll be minimum 4" of gap opening to ensure oxygen exchange. You can use wood block to elevate the cover. or, tilt it with something that you think there'll be enough air circulation in the tank.

I'll do a few for my own this weekend and take some pic to show you all in my next posting.

- blood worm will take 1 hour
- best to keep fish around 25-29c

therefore, for your case,

best to feed pallets at 6am 9am 11am, heavier feed/time and bloodworm at 8am

4 times of feeding will be good enough

We also notice that the blood worm imported from china is not so clean. If you notice certain abnormal with your fish, please let use know. Such as tiny red spot, lost of appitite, tail rot, gill fluke, etc. This is mainly due to the bacteria brought in from the frozen bloodworm. We have many solutions to clear those illness out with ease.

Cheers
OK, I'll reduce feeding to 4 times.
But 9am is too early for the 3rd feeding, because they could not finish the boolworm yet by 9.30 or 10am. So that's why i think a longger gap is better between the 2nd and 3rd feeding.
So i suggest this schedule:
1) 6am
2) 7.30-8am (3 cubes bloodworm)
3) 10.30am
4) 12.00 noon

The bloodworm i'm using is Hikari, imported from China. According to the LFS it the better/cleaner that the other type he's selling. This Hikari b/worm also cost more. Anybody can suggest where to get better bloodworm, type and price? Please advice.

Thank you.

There'll be too many possibility on the sickness and cure. Also, it can variable with different environment of the tank. Example, always under sunlight and water temp difficult to lower to some desire point; therefore alternative solution need to be applied. Also, sometimes access to certain "medicine"might be a problem for a certain place in Malaysia.

The best is to identify the sickness and knowing the environment. Then only decide which option is the best. A good picture will tell the whole story.

I think keeping goldfish is really a BIG '學問'. But it is fun and interesting to explore into it. I am going to start my ranchu keeping journey and hopes the ranchus will become part of family.
