Yeemiau,
It's about 4 hours, from 1pm to 5pm. but that side of my apartment is abit shady. Another thing is that now is rainy season in KL. Last night i woke up at 2.30 am to put cover from rain water. There was strong wind/storm also. Now there is no algae or greenish floor. Question 1: do i need to clean their sh*t? Question 2: is it good to use filter system (mechanical+biofilter) so the solid sh*t is suckaway and the poisonous ammonia can be change to harmless substrate. I was thinking to try it, so that i can hold the water longger to allow for algae growth. But i need to make sure water movement is minimised at pump/filter inlet and outlet. What do you say? |

Q2 : I can guarantee you that will be a good start for some non stop illness problem. hehehe also, too much turbulance in the water will kacau the development of a nice sexy tail. Too many development of the fish will be out of your control once you start using filter, eg. scale, tail, bodyshape, etc.

Hi to all,
Here's photo taken during changing water yesterday. Yeemiau, There is no algea carpet yet. Should i try grow it in another (spare) tank? What about green water, when should i cultivate it? Any advise or tips to do it? Cheers Last edited by chinaryukin : 07-08-2006 at 09:58 AM. |

If you have another smaller tank, it'll be great cos the area will be much smaller there. and you can place it temporary at someplace with longer sunlight duration. Say 32" x 20" size is quite ideal. Something similar size also can. I think you can change over to the small tank anytime if the small tank is available now. you only need it for 3-5 weeks. then they can go back to this big tank already.
The fish looks good to me. Will ask LiewKun (Vincent) to double check. Next time, you can put an egg (approx 60 gram size) for size comparision (just another common practice in Japan, for your info only.) By the way, 頑張って下さい means "continue to work hard and strive for best result" I think it is pronounce as " KanBaTeh KoDesSai"... need to confirm with LiewKun. You can cross check in www.ranchu.net on their 60 days old fish and compare them to your on development. It looks very very similar. Cheers,

Hi Chinaryukin,
Wah, your kurokos really look healthy. I like the middle one where the color has not change, already have squarish head and a nice thick caudle peduncle. Like what Yee Miau is saying, the outcome of the fish depends on the owner. Looks like you are doing a great job man. Yee Miau, Like to check, how do you put an egg as it's always floatinglah. I always put a coin in, senang sikit. Regards, Ryan |

Either way also can, egg or coin or any other common object which has no sharp edge. Putting egg in is just a common practice in Japan. We can put other thing in too... like erm... ... spoon, etc.
It is just to give indication of the size. It is better to have something similar to the fish size. Now, coin is a little small comparing to the fish. (Just imagine how fast they grow)
