ChinaRyukin,
I think you could put a small container of clean water or the water from your current ranchu tank (just before you change the water). Put this container under hot sun and then , put some 0.5 table spoon of fish food inside the container. Believe you could get some algae our of it. Important think is the sunlight and the food (nitrate) for the algae. Hopefully you get the algae within a week. Ryan |

hi Ryan,
how's your koruko doing? any photo? when will u be back in town? thanks for the advise. as mention earlier i've already done (on going green water cultivation) in my spare tank but the progress is very slow, i believe due to limited time exposed to sunlight. I'm thinking to get ligthing to speed up the growth of green algae. Could anyone suggest what type of ligthing is the best for the purpose taking consider my setup. Yeemiau, can you give some thought!!! Thanking you guys in advance, Cheers |

Hi guys,
Today is the first day of exhibition. Just got home and very very tired... zzzzz Anyway, gonna be short and brief again. Will tambah balik the fine details later. If you wanna express algea grow. You can go to hardware shop to get a 4 feet light tube casing and just ask the hardwate shop fella help you to wire it up with 3 pin plug. (on/off switch is optional for your preference) And buy planted tank tubes from fish shop, seek their advice which is best for algea grow. That will saves you a lot. Just use 2 wood stick place horizintally across you tank top and lay the light on top. don't worry, the light tube is not hot at all so wood is perfectly safe for this application. On the other hand, For the body growth; ChinaRyukin's is a good reference. So the rest need to beef up the feeding a little. Just bit by bit and don't hurry into result. Watch out for over feeding by judging on the poops. if you see poops is a little abnormal, such as transparent thing attaching, not in good solid shape, etc. Slow down a little and re adjust feedrate. Observation is very important. For ChinaRyukin's case. I assume the fish is in the IKEA tray right? if it is, green will come very soon. Cheers,

Green Water Cultivation
Okey i started with taking&putting used dirty water (from the water change) to a spare tank. this is dirty water, kind of brownish in color. put in air stone 24 hours a day under open sky (yet limited period expose to direct sunshine) for the passed 7 days it turn from brown to yellowish then a bit (light) greenish now. i hope later it will get greener. so what then? can i put the babies to this green water(originally dirty) ? it smell like the soil now. if yes, how long can they stay in there? when do i change water? what do i do during water change so it back/stay green? i'm confused!!!??? hope you guys can help. Another problem: now i got tiny worms moving at bottom of the tank. Ayyoyyo..what to do? thanks, Last edited by chinaryukin : 19-08-2006 at 07:49 AM. |

Hi Chinaryukin,
I am still not home yet, be back by Aug 28. Miss my baby kurokos. And hope to go and see your kurokos too, they are developing well. I think the solution is to move to a house with compoundlah. Then you could expand your ranchu territory. He, he , this is long term proposal that you could consider. Short term strategy is like what Yee Miau said, there is nothing perfect in life, so long as you have the passion for something, there would be solution if the heart and mind are put into it. Believe you would find a solution to get green water. Regards, Ryan |

ChinaRyukin,
The IKEA thing in my mind suppose to be a "hotel" for the babies to stay a month or so. From there, you can cultivate greens in no time (With the babies living in it). I wasn't thinking to use it as a tank to cultivate green with old water. Maybe, there's some miscommunication, heheh.. no worries. Cos for this size, the IKEA tank size is still suitable for the baby up to 3-4.5 months old. Other wise, it can use as hospital, quarantine, etc in the later stage. Hope this clear things out a little. Cheers,
