Hi ChinaRyukin,
thanks for your comment. Indeed I need to thank my friend for that. He helped me changed the water once a week and to add up the food in the food timer. I have to say a million thank to Nagano Liew Kun and Yee Miau on their advise that they gave me before I left the fish. The fish has cheek because they have been eating the carpet algae. Now since I am back, I think I am going to push up the body a little bit to gain some more size. Because for a 3 month old fish, it's a little bit small (when I compared to those bred in Japan, they are almost like 8~9cm in Japan). And also, there are still some empty space between the stomach and the tail (don't know how to explain that in words). Rgds, Ryan Regards, Ryan |

Welcome back to Ryan!
The Ranchu back in Japan is mostly 1-2 months earlier then this batch. But of cos, need to catch up a little on the stomach as you observed. The carpet algea has definately done its' effect on the head growth. You must have owed your friend many jugs of beer huh? heheh Anyway, the fish looks very good indeed. Cheers.

Hi Yee Miau,
Thanks for the advise. And the ranchu is healthy, thanks to you and Nagano-san. Hi Ho0406, Well, I am still learning. Probably Yee Miau could give you advise. Worry that I might give the wrong advise. I could share with you my own experience and learnings with you: 1) Water is critical, 100% water change is absolutely important as to maintain healthy ranchu. And also to give the tank some scrub from time to time, so as to keep the pond clean and free from bacteria/virus. 2) Once ranchu is healthy, 50% of problems solved 3) Japanese has an art of rearing ranchu. In simple term, every day, they would watch their ranchu and see what is lacking and will try to "balance" the ranchu (headgrowth, body growth, tail condition, scale condition) by altering the food, the water condition. I don't think I express this well enough. What I understand that at the end of the creation stage, a potential ranchu is created by the hand of the rearer. How a ranchu turns out is influenced by the way the fish is cared for (of course, some would argue that it is also influence by the genetic components of the ranchu, I agree to a certain extent). |

Hi to all,
EzieG's collection is far smaller in size, so i advice him to boost on the feeding. He got full carpet algae now since he moved the tank location under the open sky. But i hope our ipoh geng can give better advice to him. Here are the koruko i've got from EzieG Also some fresh photos to update on my babies, plese comment/advice EzieG, you can see clearly the different on size to my collection, it's time to boost up the feeding. Hi Chinaryukin,
I like your ranchu. You have buildt up both the body size and the head simultaneously. Very nice indeed and already showing sign of being a junior "sumo" which good ranchu are supposed to be. You have got many hred and white with very good potential. Also the full golden one as well. Nice and strong back. Mine almost all golden colour except for one. Wish they have more mix color like yours. Ryan |
