Hi Ryan,
I hardly see the fishes. Is the green water considered too green?

Thumbs up

[quote=Ryan]Hi Ho,

Thanks for your comment. My fish actually grow a slightly only, only that
I zoom in more with my camera, he! he!.
The colour is shiny because the aquarium is directly under the sun but I have shades for them.

Your ranchu has grown as well. I can see the headgrowth is substantial
when compared to your previous pics. Green water has helped in the development. When you say that the green water is too green, could you still
see your fish ( i mean at least the bayang bayang of the fish at 4" deep).

My only problem now is that I have 10 ranchus, some has nice body growth but headgrowth is slower, some has nice headgrowth but body growth is not as good. Therefore, it is difficult to adjust the condition (meaning the food, whether to use green water or clear water...etc).

Yee Miau,
Any comment on the last paragraph, does it mean that I will eventually have to sacrifice other fish and focus on the few better ones?[/QUOT]

Hi Ryan, your fish growthing very good, actualy is imposible every fish to be excellence. So, u just focus the better one( head, body long or big and tail).
In this stage, u can slowly add water up to 15cm (every time change water u have to add 1-2cm water up to maximum 15cm)

Dear Nagano-san,

Thanks for your comment and advise. Okay, I will
start to focus on the better ones.

Dear Ho,
Actually, I am also learning. If not mistaken, if at 4" depth, you should be
able to see your fish. If you could not, then please change water. But sometimes, if your container is blue or it's full of carpet algae, we might see that the water is darker. Best way is to take out a bit and put it into a white base container and see the green color. The color of the green water should be like the green tea color.

Too green, only thing is worry that the ranchu might get oxgen burn on the fin. Actually, I have never seen a case, just from the website.

Regards, Ryan

Default Oxigen Burn!!!

Hi to all,

What happen to the gfish when they got 'oxigen burn'?
How do we know that it is happening, anything visible on physical of the fish?
Can anyone help to clarify?

Thanks in advance, Cheers

HI Chinaryukin,

Pls. reference this,

For the rise of water temperature, and strong sunshine, it increases rapidly, and the depth of 青水[Green water] becomes deep rapidly per time, and underwater plankton goes. And when the figure of a fish becomes 青水(green water) which is a grade which becomes hard to see, a "gas disease" will be caused by the probability of about 100%. Moreover, strong sunlight may cause a "tail glow"(oxigen burn) which feels a pain [ tail and the fin ] owing to. Therefore, if 青水(green water) judges that it became a little deep, it is important to perform a water change a little early, and it is important also for using a shade beforehand.

Default Update photos 16/9/06

Hi to all,

NaganoLiewKun,
Thanks for your guidance.

As i mentioned before my tank gets very limited sunlight..so it took me so long to get carpet algae and green water. I'm using 2 ligthings fullday 8am to 8pm. Now only i get grenwater after keeping the water beyond my standard water cycle (1 week).

Now i'm not sure wheather i should continue keeping the ranchus in the green water until it turn darker (i would like to continue this), or should i do water change cuz its overdue already. My ranchus have been in the green water for few days now.

I hope Vincent or Yeemiau or NaganoLiewKun or other Sifu can help.. Does it depend on darkness of the water or should i stick to the duration of water cycle?

Here are some photos of the water condition:
