i'm not really sure what type of hikari is best or suit them most.
but will start/try with normal hikari gold (floating type) then see how they take it.
Maybe you guys can advice me on this!!
i'm keeping them in tub of greenwater with overhead filtering.

They are very active swimmer. Also not so friendly....fast swim away when i approach the tank.
Any advice to calm them down to be more playfull.

BTW so far they feed well on the Hikari Gold.

Cheers

Wakin is one's of the biggest in goldfish world .As their behavier very close to Single tail Goldfish character, they r too wild when mixed to the exotic goldfish.

U can train them by no giving food for 2 days. After 2 days, soak the pellet with some water for 5 minutes.U must soak ur finger too.Drop several drops of the soaked pellet at the wakin aquarium.

The wakin will take the smell and search for the food.Add several drops again and if some of the wakins come out of the water. Then put ur finger near the wakin and let them 'kiss' ur finger.Gently rub their skin and if the wakin panic, let them .Try for several times and they even 'kiss' ur lip if u train them well.

About the food ,after u finished the Hikari Gold,do not feed them again as wakin consider one's of the best colour in goldfish world. So feed with Hikari Staple and Hikari Wheat-Germ is recomended. They do not need to feed colour enhancer in the moment.Don't worry about the colour of the fish fade ,it's normal and will deeply enhance by ur environment.

Don't forget to feed them live food such as blood worm or u can try feed them 'longkang fish'(drain fish). The drain fish must be quarantine with anti fluke, anti fungus and anti bacteria before feed to ur fish. It's fun....

Hope that help.cheers.

Hi P'Palak

Thanx for the advise, i'll try that when i got free time.
But it's really amazing the redness on the wakins.
i don't think you can get that red on other fish...very deep think red.

this is my firsty try keeping wakin, i felt in love with thier color.
i hope the color stay till they grow big.

As I mention before, the colour will stay and if u continued to feed them colour enhancer, the colour may even fade as I been told that feed too much colour enhancer may weaken the fish immun and shorten the life span.

Now is the time to boost up the grow not to make-up them.the make-up proses..after 3 years.

Oppss,
Forget to mention. In the moment u cannot increased the water level more than 1 feet as i seen some of ur wakin tails is clapping.

My advise is to reduced to 6 inch and used green water to strength the peduncle before u can put them in high water level.Let the tails open in green water and see how it goes.U can used the japanese ranchu grooming that u learn from our Ipoh friend .Good luck.

Very good to know that, now i got assurance.
I'll get their diet change to growth booster type.

What do you think about food for koi, such as saki-hikari basic type or the Hikari Ecel.
Ppl told me it's good to boost body growth..also for goldfish.

Wakin and koi are cousins, so i assumed it should be okey.
Any comment? Have you tried them on goldfish?
