My gfs also got those white spots on its wen sometimes. It usually goes away after a few hours. I think its related to stress or growth. I call it gf pimples bcoz they appear on my small ones only.

Also see it on big gfs tat just recently arrive after transport.

But remember this is only on its wen. If got white spots on body (very tiny) then its probably white spot disease.

Happy goldfishing

I have problem with my new goldfish(the shop owner says its a local type) that i bought on Monday (2 days ago). I realise that it has one tiny white spot on its head on tuesday....and then today, there is another one which makes 2 white spots on its head. Is it ich?

I have added copper safe (by Mardel, for parasite/ich...) on Tuesday but today 2nd white spot appear =_="

The fish seems tired and not active. Once a while it even stay at the bottom corner under the filter(i thought its dead) but it will swim back out when i walk near / tap on the glass lightly.

The rest of its body looks fine.

What can i do?
Dear dragonfrost,

Looks like your local orandas are in a pretty bad shape. This is totally up to you to save him as to me just by a glance....it has a minor case of fin rot & a weak stomach. With this signs together with lethargic behaviour this fish is pretty hard to cure. It looks real weak, so if you introduce meds....it might be too caustic for it to even survive medicated environment.

But there is something you can try though. If you wanna giveit a last shot, try putting him under 0.5% salinity, WC(water change) every 2 days. If you dun understand the salinity measurement....here it goes:

0.1% salinity = 1gram per liter
0.3% salinity = 3grams per liter
0.5% salinity = 5grams per liter

Give this guy minimal feeding not to deteriorate the water condition....I hope he's still eating. All the best!

Would appreaciate advice on what is best for this 2 cute redcaps =)
Is the stomach soft?? Try give it a minor (I mean really minor no energy needed) squeeze. Orandas are hardy fishes, the water depth are not even an issue for them.

Thanks a lot for all the advice ! Yeap, its still eating.
I think i really make a wrong choice by buying the local goldfish although i do notice that the tank (at the shop) he was in have several unhealthy tankmates(eg: some have white thingy cover the eye, some have broken fins...).XD
Dont really have much aquarium shops/choices at my place though...(Pahang)

I'll try to save him...he is just so cute...

I've tried touching the redcap's belly, they feel quite soft i think.
