I keep SiameseAlgaeEaters with my ranchus to help control brush algae. They grow to about 5-6inches, but i think as long as they are smaller than the goldfish its not a problem.
No experience with those sucker-mouth-type fishes. Id be abit cautious about them. Happy fishing |

Jello,
Welcome to our Fish Forum. Just some basics about goldfishes.....you need not worry about algaes in your tank as goldfishes love to eat them as a supplement to help them grow better, healthier & more vibrant in color. Some of us even keep them in green algae waters. As a beginner, it is important to learn how to maintain good water quality. A good start goes a long way....so just remember in goldfish keeping....a healthy fish is a good fish. |

If you want a suckermouth in your tank to help algae control then I highly recomend a Golden Dwarf Algae Eater. They are small and grow no larger than around 5-7cm. You will find them in your fish shop under the coldwater section. I have two reasonably large plain orange goldfish and they have both been living with my Golden Dwarf Alage Eater for atleast 2 years now. Sometimes the algae eater chases them off but not only is this very occasional but it only lasts a split second.
