Default Update on babies 24/06/07

Hi to all,

I move tvr babies from greenwater to the other/spare tank standby with aged water. For the pass few day I realise they feeding lesser BW and take them longer time to finish 3 cubes BW. I suspect the thicker greenwater make them feel not very hungry.

Today almost all had completed skin/color change except 2 pcs. By next week this 2 will reveal it's color. I like this part of their life cycle...suspense!!!!

Here are some photos for comment;

thanks, but they r still far from target.
and the spare tank still cannot get carpet algae.

last season, my tvr having lack of carpet algae and late greenwater that caused failure to their body shape and headwen.

now i'm struggling to get thick carpet algae to boost up headwen....both on main tank and spare tank. when both tank have established with carpet algae then i can just rotate them....that's the basic idea. later i can set another spare tank to cultivate green carpet.

still looking for the hormone for water plant!!!

as you can see I have 2 pcs of white babies, both are showing less progress at the head compared to the others. this is normal, but i believe with sufficient supply of carpet algae this can be improved.

cheers,

China Ryukin,

I hope you are not joking. Why you want to used the plant hormone?.You want to use the Pilik-Palak idea on using the hormone to speed up carpet algae. He's is not telling u the hold stories.

After he add the hormone, the algae grown out of control. That's not carpet algae that once tot but hair algae.
Hair algae is very bad for babies ranchu. You might lost the hold set if that type of algae appear.

Just leave it's natural grow.

Hi kuroko,

Thanks for the advice but I got to do something because my setup get very limited sunlight....so the algae growth are very slow (not "natural").

What P'Palak experienced show that the hormone can boost up the algae growth, but need to use it correctly and timely. From my experience hairy algae is the first to grow in clear water, but its not dangerous to the ranchu. Only thing is that it useless to them becoz they cannot feed on it.

I think if we can put in the hormone plus some seed of the green carpet algae, set in new tub, also take away the hairy algea if it come out; this will boost up the carpet algae.

BTW I will only use it in spare tank, not with the fishes with/in the hormone...afraid it will have side effect.

MH lighting is not economic...so as alternative solution I will try this hormone way. If it work, then we all can benefit from it.

Cheers,
